How we test and update our guides

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Who is responsible

The CompressVid Team publishes these guides and operates CompressVid. We have a commercial interest when we recommend our own tool. A team byline identifies that responsibility; it does not imply an independent review or outside expert approval.

What our evidence means

  • Product tests describe a specific input, settings, result, date and environment. A successful sample does not prove that every file or device will behave the same way.
  • FFmpeg experiments measure local encoder settings. They are not speed or quality rankings of cloud services or desktop apps.
  • Documentation checks link to the relevant official source. Platform rules and application interfaces can change after the date shown.
  • Estimates state their assumptions. Calculated sizes or aspect ratios are not measurements of a finished export.

Historical results keep their original test date. Where a step or device has not been tested, we do not describe it as a firsthand result. Product limits are checked against our configuration; third-party specifications are checked against their documentation.

Illustrations and AI assistance

We use AI assistance for drafting and explanatory illustrations. Diagrams explain a concept; they are not screenshots or proof of a test. The team remains responsible for published claims. Source links, measurements and stated limitations let readers assess those claims.

Updates and corrections

Published dates identify the original article. Updated dates identify substantive revisions, such as corrected facts or changed instructions. We record important corrections in the article and do not change dates just to make content look fresh.

Use the Report a correction link under any article, or email support@compressvid.io with the article URL, the statement in question and a supporting source or example. We check reports against the available evidence before revising a guide.
