§01 Resize Video

Why change a video’s dimensions

A clip that looks fine on a desktop can be cropped by a feed, letterboxed in a player, or rejected by a platform’s preferred aspect ratio. Resizing scales the picture to the box you need — 1080p for YouTube, 1:1 for a feed post, 9:16 for Reels — without redrawing the edit. Pick a preset or type exact pixels, then download a clean MP4. Free, no watermark, nothing to install.

§02 Pick a Target

Common output sizes for social and web

Platform rules change, but these boxes cover most posts. Match the dominant use of the clip.

Where it is goingTypical sizeAspect
Instagram feed1080×1350 (portrait) or 1080×1080 (square)4:5 or 1:1
Instagram Reels / TikTok / Shorts1080×1920 full-screen vertical9:16
YouTube1920×1080 or 1280×72016:9
Web / email embeds1280×720 or 854×480 keeps weight low16:9
Square posts & thumbnails1080×10801:1

This tool scales the picture (aspect ratio is kept so faces do not stretch). To cut edges away instead, use the Crop tool. To shrink file size without changing pixels, use the Compress tool. Limits checked October 2026.

§03 How It Works

How to resize a video online

Three steps in the browser. Presets cover most jobs; custom pixels cover the rest.

  1. STEP 1

    Upload the video

Drop in an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI. The preview loads so you can see the source dimensions before you choose an output.

  2. STEP 2

    Pick a size

Tap 1080p, 720p, 1:1, 4:5 or 9:16 — or type a custom width and height. Keep-aspect keeps the image from stretching when you change one side.

  3. STEP 3

    Download the resized file

Press Resize video. The export is a standard MP4 scaled to fit your target box — no watermark, nothing to install.

§04 Resize vs Crop vs Compress

Which tool do you actually need?

They solve different problems. Using the wrong one wastes a re-encode.

GoalWhat changesUse this
Fit a platform’s aspect / pixel boxOutput dimensions change; whole frame stays visible (letterboxed if needed)Resize video (this page)
Cut away edges / reframe subjectPixels outside the frame are discardedCrop video
Hit a file-size limit (MB)Dimensions can stay; bitrate dropsCompress video
Shorten the timelineDuration drops; dimensions stayTrim video
Silence the clipAudio track removed; picture untouchedMute video

If the platform complains about file size after resizing, run the result through Compress. If the subject is too small after scaling, crop first to the region you care about, then resize.

§05 In This Tool

What the resizer does

A focused scaler with the presets people actually search for — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube — plus exact pixel control when you need a non-standard box.

Presets for the feeds

1080p, 720p, 480p, 1:1, 4:5 and 9:16 cover most social and web cases in one tap.

Exact pixels when you need them

Type any width and height between 16 and 10000. Keep-aspect locks the ratio while you drag numbers.

Aspect is preserved

Output scales to fit the target box so faces and logos do not stretch. Leave height empty to scale by width only.

Free, no watermark

Guests can resize daily without signing in. Signed-in users get monthly credits for larger or more frequent jobs.

§06 FAQ

Resize video FAQ

Straight answers before you scale.

What is the difference between resize and crop?

Resize scales the whole picture to a target width and height (or one side, keeping aspect). Crop cuts away parts of the frame. Use resize to fit a platform’s pixel box; use crop to reframe or remove edges.

Will resizing stretch or squash my video?

No. This tool scales to fit the target box while keeping the original aspect ratio. The output is not forced to fill every pixel of an odd box, so faces stay natural.

What size should I use for Instagram or TikTok?

For Reels and TikTok use 1080×1920 (9:16). For feed posts use 1080×1350 (4:5) or 1080×1080 (1:1). The presets on this page match those common targets.

Can I resize without losing quality?

Downscaling (for example 4K → 1080p) usually looks clean. Upscaling a small clip to 4K cannot invent detail — the file gets bigger but not sharper. Start from the highest-quality source you have.

Does resizing change the file size?

Usually yes. Fewer pixels mean a smaller file at the same quality settings. If you still need a smaller download, use the Compress tool to hit an exact MB target.

What happens if I only set the width?

Height is calculated from the source aspect ratio. The same applies if you only set height. That is the safest way to change resolution without letterboxing.

Is there a watermark or usage limit?

No watermark. Guests can process one file per day up to 250 MB; signing in brings monthly credits for more and larger files.
