§01 Video Trimming

What to cut out of a video before you share it

Most videos have the same three problems: a dead few seconds at the start while the camera settles, a fumbled ending where someone reaches for the stop button, and a middle section nobody will watch. Trimming removes those parts so the clip starts on the actual content. Upload the file above, drag the two handles to keep only the section you want, and export a clean MP4 — the trim happens on our servers, so your phone or laptop never has to re-encode the footage itself. §02 Where Trimming Helps

Common reasons to trim a video

Different destinations reward different lengths. Pick the row that matches why you are cutting, then set that as your end point on the timeline.

SituationTypical problemWhat trimming fixes
Shorts, Reels & Status postsClip runs past the platform's allowed lengthCut to the strongest segment and the post uploads without an error
Work chat & DiscordSix minutes of screen recording for a 20-second pointKeep just the demonstration, lose the setup and dead air
Lectures & meetingsTwenty minutes before the actual answer beginsExtract the explanation as a standalone clip
Tutorials & demosFalse starts and retakes in the middleRemove the bad take so the flow reads clean
Email & formsThe file is fine, the length is notShorter clip = faster to watch = more likely to get watched
Ringtones & sound clipsA whole song for ten seconds of audioTrim the segment, or pull the audio out as MP3

WhatsApp Status videos are capped at 90 seconds (checked against WhatsApp's official FAQ, October 2026) — trimming to 85–89 seconds keeps upload headroom. Other platforms change their limits often; check the official help page if you are right at the edge. Limits checked October 2026. Full breakdown: full breakdown of WhatsApp limits.

§03 How It Works

How to trim a video online

Three steps in the browser — no video editor to install, no watermark on the result.

  1. STEP 1

    Upload the video

Drop in an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI or any other common format. The preview loads straight in the page so you can watch while you decide what to keep.

  2. STEP 2

    Set the start and end

Drag the handles on the timeline, or type exact seconds in the Start and End boxes. The panel always shows the range you are keeping and how long the result will be.

  3. STEP 3

    Export the trimmed clip

Press Trim video and the file is cut in the cloud. Download an MP4 with the kept section and nothing else — no watermark, no time limit on the clip you export.

§04 What You Save

How much smaller does a trimmed video get?

Output size scales with kept duration at the same quality. Use this to sanity-check the result before you export.

OriginalYou keepRough result
60 seconds10 seconds≈ 1/6 of the original file
60 seconds30 seconds≈ half the original file
5 minutes60 seconds≈ 1/5 of the original file
5 minutes90 seconds (Status)≈ 30% of the original file
20 minutes (lecture)3 minutes≈ 15% of the original file
Any lengthRemove 5 seconds of dead airShaves those seconds off, proportionally

These are proportional estimates — the trimmed file re-encodes at a similar quality level, so the ratio of kept time to original time is the dominant factor. If you need an exact final size instead, trim first and run the compressor on the result.

§05 Cutting, Precisely

Trim is not the same as split — and why precision matters

Trimming keeps one continuous range. Splitting chops a file in two, and removing a middle section means keeping two separate pieces. This tool does the first job: one range in, one clean file out.

Frame-accurate cuts

Some trimmers snap to the nearest keyframe, which can leave a fraction of a second of the wrong footage on either end. This tool re-encodes the kept range, so the cut lands exactly where you put the handles.

The picture does not degrade

Trimming is not compression. You are removing time, not quality — the kept section exports at full resolution. (If the file also needs to be smaller, that is the compressor's job, not the trimmer's.)

Audio stays in sync

The audio track is cut with the video in the same pass, so dialogue and sound effects stay locked to the frame they belong to.

No account required

Guests can trim a video per day up to 250 MB without signing in. Sign in and the monthly credits cover longer and larger files with the same flow.

§06 FAQ

Video trimming FAQ

Straight answers before you cut.

Does trimming a video reduce its quality?

No. Trimming removes time, not resolution — the kept part exports at the same size as the original. The file gets smaller because it is shorter, not because the picture was squeezed.

Can I remove a section from the middle of a video?

Yes, in two exports: set the handles to keep the part before the section, export, then repeat for the part after. This tool exports one continuous range per pass — that keeps the flow simple and the cut precise.

What formats can I upload?

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, WMV and most other common video formats. The output is a standard MP4 that plays in browsers, chats and social apps without conversion.

Do I need to install a video editor?

No. The upload, timeline and export all run in this page. Nothing to download, no plugin, no account needed for a first trim.

Can I trim videos on my phone?

Yes. The timeline works with touch — drag the handles on a phone or tablet and export the same way you would on a desktop.

Is there a watermark or a limit on the result?

No watermark. Guests can trim one video per day up to 250 MB; signing in brings monthly credits for more and for files up to 1 GB (larger on paid plans).

What is the difference between trimming and splitting a video?

Trimming keeps one continuous range and discards everything outside it. Splitting cuts a file into two parts. This tool trims — one selection in, one clean file out — which is what most “cut a clip” jobs actually need.

Is there a free video trimmer without a watermark?

Yes — this one. Trimming here is free to use, exports carry no watermark, and there is nothing to install. Guests can trim one video per day up to 250 MB; signing in brings monthly credits for more.

How is this different from a video compressor?

Trimming shortens the clip; compressing shrinks the file at the same length. If the file is too large for a limit but the length is fine, compress it. If the length is the problem, trim it here.

Cut the clip down to what matters

Upload, drag two handles, export — a clean MP4 with no watermark, right in the browser.
